INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING DRY CHARGED BATTERY

1. STORING

  • Keep the battery in cool and dry places.
  • Do not remove aluminum foil seals on the cover nor fill electrolyte.

2. USING

- Remove aluminum foil seals from the cover.

- Fill each cell of the battery with dilute sulfuric acid 1.25 specific gravity (at 20oC) up to the “Upper level”.

- Wait in 20 minutes. If the electrolyte level drops down, refill the battery with the same electrolyte to reach the “Upper level”.

- Screw the vent plugs. Clean and dry the battery terminals and connectors.

- If the engine cannot start when the battery is used for the first time, the battery should be charged as follows:

  • Initial fast charge in 20 minutes with the charging current as:

I = 20 amperes for battery used for car.

I = 40 amperes for battery used for truck.

  • Normal charge in 3 – 4 hours with the charging current as:

I = 3 – 5 amperes for battery used for car.

I = 8 – 12 amperes for battery used for truck.

  • Keep the temperature of the electrolyte during charging not higher than 55oC.

3. RECHARGING

  • If the battery is unused for a long time after being filled with electrolyte, the battery must be fully charged every month.
  • Charging conditions:
  • Unscrew the vent plugs.
  • Use a rectified direct current (DC). Connect the battery (+.-) terminals respectively to (+,-) poles of the DC source.
  • Use charging current about 1/10 of the battery capacity. For example, N50 battery with a capacity of 50Ah is charged with a current of 5.0 amperes.
  • When the electrolyte in cells bubbles up, reduce the charging current to half and continue the charging.

- Charging is finished when the battery voltage and the electrolyte specific gravity are unchanged for 2 hours.

4. MAINTENANCE

  • If the vehicle runs continuously through a long distance, or the battery has to operate under high-temperature conditions, it is necessary to check the electrolyte level.
  • Keep the electrolyte level between the “Upper level” and the “Lower level”. If the electrolyte level is lower, add pure water to restore to the “Upper level”. Only add pure water, do not use acid solution.
  • Check the electric system and dynamo of the vehicle if the electrolyte level drops too quickly.

5. SAFETY IN USING

  • During charging, the battery may produce explosive gases. Do not charge near flames, smokes, or sparks.
  • If the electrolyte contacts your skin and eyes, flush with water immediately.
  • Check that all cable connectors to the terminals are properly tightened; connections that are too tight or too loose could result in post breakage, meltdown, or fire.
  • To avoid short circuits, do not lay objects on top of the battery.
  • Charge battery in a well-ventilated area.
    Keep out of the reach of children.
